TIP OF THE MONTH

This week has been a joy witnessing the shift from Winter to Spring overnight! On Friday I got to skate out on the canals and Sunday it’s all been melting. . . This certainly feels like the final winter hurray, get the shivers out of the system and make clearance to Spring! . . .and as an extra bonus, we have longer days of light! 

So my video this month is inspired by skating (right outside of the studio) and the metaphors that go hand in hand. Carving through the ice can be mimicked by drawing with charcoal or crayons. As a matter of fact, it reminds me of a typical charcoal drawing exercise. Drawing large lines with both hands on the sheet of paper. The exercise is the tip of the month.

OUR TIP THIS MONTH:

My tip this month is to carve lines onto paper . . .

  1. Hold a stick of charcoal in each hand. . .
  2. Set up your paper at a 45/90 degree in front of you . . .
  3. Shift your weight in a swaying motion from one foot to another . . .
  4. Close your eyes and let your hands create large swinging movements on the paper . . .
  5. Play with the directions of these lines, from down to up, up to down, left to right etc . . .
  6. Occasionally wipe out the paper . . .
  7. Keep going until you feel that the movement is done . . . take a step back and observe your carving/ drawing. . .

1) SMART Intuitive 7 Month Painting Club: We started in January with monthly in-person meetups at the studio.  This journey starts  6:30pm- 9:30pm Amsterdam time. We meet in person, on a Tuesday evening. (Next one March 20th) Sign up now!
