TIP OF THE MONTH

Color fun is just the playful exercise to bring in that summer fun wherever you are! Over here in the Northern hemisphere, it’s fun to create with inks and observe the ink color transform instantly while fusing into each other. Yellow and blue really do make green! This kind of feels like a cool lab experiment! We can see what happens when we wet the paper first before squirting some ink.

Move the paper around to keep transforming your experimental painting. It is ever flowing and fun to watch the colors continue to change as the inks spread out more and more. . .

On another topic, I am delighted to continually share images of Flying Fish with you! As you may have read last month, and followed on social media (@daniellarubinovitz instagram) It is now suspended among the trees in the Price Sculpture Forest on Whidbey Island (North-West of Seattle). If you are in the area, please do go visit! Such fun. I am oh so grateful that this massive project was possible through the technology at our fingertips! I certainly miss not being there in person nonetheless.

Again… more info about my art and process is always on my instagram account @daniellarubinovitz.

Next on the list is happenings at the studio. O P E N (after short summer break)

In the studio, team building workshops and pop up workshops for adults and kids will resume after a summer break. Everyone has been eager to travel, while restrictions have been lifted. So go go go and enjoy. . . Staying in town? Do give the exercise below, same as shown in video above.

So do inquire with me and book your session(s).

Let’s stay in contact about how we might collaborate together in workshops and art installations, yes!

OUR EXERCISE THIS MONTH:

Create with inks . . .

  1. Gather some Ecoline (or other brand inks) in Red, Yellow, Blue (with these primaries you can create it all)
  2. Wet both sides of your paper (try different thicknesses paper, printer paper will work too).
  3. Use a pipette, or cotton buds to suck up some of the ink and release it onto the papers.
  4. Experiment with the instant color changes on paper as you add some blue to the yellow.
  5. Lift up the paper to allow the inks to move even more.
  6. Add clear water to watch the ink dilute and create light tones again.
  7. Keep transforming the piece.
  8. When you are done, what do you notice? What does it remind you of? What else?
  9. Like to share a picture? Post your art and findings instagram @daniellarubinovitz  & @ateliermolenpad. . .or Contact me for more on this topic.
