TIP OF THE MONTH

December, last month of this year.  Seems like this year too has spun like a whirlwind. Different than last year though, that’s for sure. All in all, it’s fostered additional space for my continual painting and sculpture development. Lot’s of writing this year too, especially in applications and submissions. Such is the world of the artist. Writing plays a big part in framing art in relation to its surrounding. Another fun thing to mention is that I just signed a contract with a commercial gallery based in US for representation of part of my collections. In addition, the studio will be updated to represent the other part of my collections. Also looking at hosting group shows, though will have to see how things go with regulations. . .Of course this still with the capacity to hold workshops and such. I was actually looking for assistance in making this happen, feelers are already out!

Expanding  thoughts here. . .the Atelier has suffered financially greatly, corporate in person workshops still on hold at the studio, more because people scared. .. fear still keeping people apart. This year we were able to host pop ups and Kidzartlab. On the other side, rent and taxes keep rolling in. Everyone is in same boat here globally with this pandemic.  Many losses, and the world still turns. In anycase, I look toward the positive side, and there has been much positivity, and continue. I have been especially grateful for the individual clients who come weekly, especially since rules and regulations have always allowed these sessions to continue.

Now on to the theme of this newsletter. This cold weather is the perfect time for melting crayons. Try it out for yourself. . .a mini dip into the world of encaustic painting (painting with wax). Honestly, I just started playing with this technique myself and was simply experimenting with a box of crayons at the studio. All that’s needed besides the crayons themselves are a heat dryer and a hot glue gun. More details below in the exercise this month. . .melting wax.

Furthermore, I am working on a new series of sculptures in the studio, they are smaller than what I normally do, so suitable indoors too. . .pictures come soon on social media, especially instagram. .

When you are in the area of Price Sculpture Forest on Whidbey Island (North-West of Seattle).please do go visit! Such fun. I am oh so grateful that this massive project was possible through the technology at our fingertips! I certainly miss not being there in person nonetheless.

Again… more info about my art and process is always on my instagram account @daniellarubinovitz.

Next on the list is happenings at the studio.

In the studio, contact me when you are ready to join in on team building workshops (also on ZOOM) and pop up workshops for adults. Do inquire with me prior to booking your session(s).

In the meantime, contact me about Art Piece commissions, or make an appointment to visit my gallery in the studio. Artworks are for purchase.

Wishing you healthy, warm and cozy holidays with friends and family and all good for 2022!
