TIP OF THE MONTH

Yay, summer in the air, nature and hearts. . . I just came back from the Voorlinden museum and the Clingenbosch Sculpture Gardens. Both museums are located in Wassenaar and around the corner from each other.  For the Sculpture Gardens, do book now, as they only open select Thursdays from 3-6pm.

The Voorlinden museum currently has an impressive exhibit by Antony Gormley along with a whole cast of name dropping artists. The Clingenbosch Sculpture Garden has over 60 unique pieces by local and mostly international artists. My video above is just a small sampler and these pieces do need to be experienced in person. Nice thing is when you visit the sculpture gardens, this can only be done with guide, who will tell the stories that the artist wanted to convey.

This is so the season for lots of outdoor art, of course mostly in the form of sculptures as they are created to withstand the elements. I personally love it and have been enjoying to book If Fish Could Fly to its various locations.

Flying Fish is an 8 meter aerial sculpture, Price Sculpture Forest, Whidbey Island, Washington State (North-West of Seattle). It is on exhibit year long throughout 2022. ( https://sculptureforest.org/visit/ )

E) SMART Coaching 1:1? Curious about what could be expected about working with me in a private coaching session? I combine an in-depth experience in most art discipline processes from drawing, to painting to sculpture with Art Therapy (I’m an Art Therapist) and Coaching (an CTI/ ICF certified Coach) with clients on a range of personal development topics. I use art as an initial tool to get an accurate picture of what is happening in the here and now. . .followed up with verbal coaching.

OUR EXERCISE THIS MONTH:

Create a suspended sculpture . . .

  1. Find something that you can use as a suspension cable. String, wire or tape would work easiest.
  2. Play with placement of the string, where will it be fastened? How far does it reach?
  3. Observe this space, what’s there? What would you like to add? to the string?
  4. With materials at hand, papers perhaps, rip it into various forms. 
  5. Add them to the string. What else do you want to add? Take away?
  6. Build it up. Move around the piece to see if from different orientations.
  7. What else?
  8. When you are done, what do you notice? What does it remind you of? What else?
