CATCH UP

08 November in Journal

Sending this quick video to catch up and send some art inspiration as I share what I have been up to. These months have been filled with art and writing as I keep cranking on the art applications. I do find these art applications for a total art on their own. They take much time to complete. The sanity part is in creating more art, experimentation with new materials and techniques. I hope that you can watch the video above so the images can speak more than all the words in the world....

Extending Summer

01 September in Journal

Extending summer is my motto this month! Yes, it's already September and that means that we, in the northern hemisphere are heading into Autum followed by Winter. Well I don't know about you, but I'm feeling a warm welcome to extending summer. Luckily we are having a bit of an Indian Summer, which just feels right. Our summer was frequently interrupted with quite heavy rain loads and chilly winds, so this adds some balance. ...

Tie-Dye Inspiration

01 August in Journal

August is the highlight of summer . . .at least in the Northern hemisphere. Now is the time to get to those happy summer time activities, at least they are happy times for me. Tie-dye is a great way to play with color and pattern intuitively on some white T-shirts or other fabrics. Alternative using bleach on dark fabrics is a fun twist. They are fun to make and super to wear. I find them to be bursts of light and color!...

Color Fun

01 July in Journal

Color fun is just the playful exercise to bring in that summer fun wherever you are! Over here in the Northern hemisphere, its fun to create with inks and observe the inks transform colors instantly as they fuse into each other. Yellow and blue really do make green! This kind of feels like a cool lab experiment! We start to see what happens when we wet the paper first before squirting some ink....

Flying June Fish

08 June in Journal

I am delighted to share the unveiling of Flying Fish! It is suspended among the trees in Whidbey Island (North-West of Seattle). If you are in the area, please do go visit, I have already heard super feedback from visitors. Such fun. I am oh so grateful that this massive project was possible through the technology at our fingertips! I certainly miss not being there in person nonetheless....

More Clay This May . . .

05 May in Journal

Zoom zoom zoom and more virtual happenings. It's nice to add mega physical nature to the mix. This month again an art suggestion in the form of clay has risen in me. This time with a mega amount of clay. More physical clay, as in the amount of clay where it seems impossible to lift. Working with large amounts feels gratifying and empowering. In this process our hands connect with the feeling in the air to aid in forming the clay....

April: Sphere in Bloom . . .

01 April in Journal

Positive vibes is deeply ingrained in my spirit and I have to thank my connection to nature in keeping my energy up. The seasons have made a big shift from internal action to external expression. Every morning i pass through the park to bring the boys to school. It is a blessing to show them the buds on the trees. Some buds will become leaves and others flowers. It is nothing less than a miracle and they make me and my boys so happy....

March: Zoom Ready At Home . . .

02 March in Journal

I am feeling grateful. In all senses of the term. My parents both have undergone full on Covid. My mother was hospitalized mostly because of her Dementia and fairly quickly was released to an after care hotel. The day that she was released from the hospital, my father, was admitted. He developed a lung infection at home. He is still in the hospital gaining strength and starting to walk again as I write....

January Soul Time . . .

05 January in Journal

For me 2021 is dedicated to the new age that we are in and I feel like connecting close to my soul for guidance.  Of course, the arts play a central role in my creation process. Sketching, drawing, painting and sculpture lead me into soul level discoveries level. Messy messy finger painting, scratching through the layers of paints and clay create these surprising results. This intuitive work is initiated from the here and now. . .from a feeling. . .from a color. .. from a movement. . .from a not knowing the end destination. You could say that the juiciest pieces began as bloopers . . .  mistakes . . . .and perhaps not the way to create permanent works of art. That's right, these sketches of mine are there to let inspiration rise to the surface. They are intuitive. . .and the more intuitive, the more non result oriented...
