December Layers. . .

03 December in Journal

Here in the Northern hemisphere, leaves on the ground are fully layered. The leaves underneath are indeed a bit soggy and generally appearing as a dark brown pigment of substance. Above it we can notice generally yellow, and still intact leaves above that have fallen of the last week.  It's gorgeous. It's crisp. Its inviting to walk around and seeing even farther into nature. With the leaves off the trees, we do in fact see farther as the branches frame the landscape right in our view. It all is quite much to follow along, digest and handle.. . and we are approaching the end of the year. For small businesses like my own it's been tough. All the restrictions have kept teams working from home. . .and so it is. ...

November Connect . . .

01 November in Journal

This November, not only are the leaves in the air, but political discussions, elections, relief, post election debates, health, Covid, lockdown, no lockdown, lockdown, masks.. . . It all is quite much to follow along, digest and handle.. . and we are approaching the end of the year. For small businesses like my own it's been tough. BIG ART

07 October in Journal

Riding my bike in the park is such a wonderland of color these days. I get to experience yellows, oranges, reds and browns along with the greens. Such a gift marking the official change of seasons. Welcome Autumn! (at least in the northern hemisphere). In its becoming of Autumn, nature feels like a gigantic expressive art piece in the making. It's a massive scale performance as these leaves dance around, as they are guided by the wind. This feels to me like the biggest transformative art around. ...

September: Mark Making

Swoooosh. .. Summer holidays are over (at least in the northern hemisphere) and back in the office. . .in the new normal so to say. It's clear that these strange times are here to stay. I heard that it takes 2 years for a pandemic. . .epidemic to come and go. . .and it seems like things are staying in the new normal. So . . .I've got a tip to keep the creative flow going at your desk. This is great whether your desk is at home. . .at your studio. . . at your corporate office. . .at the hospital etc. . ....

August: Olives & Goats

01 August in Journal

I hope that you have had, or are enjoying your summer (sorry about this Northern Hemisphere perspective. . . ) I wanted to share some olive tree inspiration that led me into creating a holiday sculpture. It is my intent that this inspires you to create your own art on your holidays and trips. For those in the southern hemisphere, you can apply these tips to your upcoming summer holidays!...

July: Inspirational Futzing . . .

I wanted to share another favorite childhood technique. . . playing with glue and sand. Now we can do this with just glue and sand. . .or we can just dye the sand different colors. In a ziplock bag add sand and food coloring until you have the color saturation that you want. Then let it dry. I like to put the colored sand in a spice bottle so that i can choose the stream of flow. In Amsterdam we never had a true lockdown in comparison to our neighboring countries. I fell blessed about this that we were able to take responsibility in taking care and such. I felt that people were quite respectful in giving space, in this case 1.5 meters....

June: Embody Space . . .

01 June in Journal

Here we are in May! It's so weird that time. . .nature just goes on and on. . .when it seems like the rest of the world (as we know it) has been on pause. . . In Amsterdam we never had a true lockdown in comparison to our neighboring countries. I fell blessed about this that we were able to take responsibility in taking care and such. I felt that people were quite respectful in giving space, in this case 1.5 meters....

Bizarre times are a continuing! We are still with semi-lockdown in Amsterdam. This basically means that no group activities are shut down. . . sooooo. . .that means I miss seeing you in person! From time to time I jump on FB Live for some sharing of tips. . .last ones were on creating 3D paper sculptures. . .and one one the idea of how social distancing is actually a luxury. . .You can follow us also on instagram @daniellarubinovitz for behind the scenes of my art installations. @ateliermolenpad for inspiration right from the studio. @kidzartlab specially for inspiration for kids. Lots of ways to connect while keeping distant. . . So what am I up to these days in the studio? I am applying for more installation submissions. Just got a new one in and sent another one out last week. They are quite a bundle of work, though it is definitely...

March:Journey IS Destination

17 March in Journal

Bizarre times right? This Covid-19 is affecting us all. We are being called to retreat to ourselves, our family and connect virtually. Also interesting how the meaning of time instantly shifts. We are forced to reschedule our days. Pushed to use the technologies for remote working, home schooling and touring museums virtually. I feel that we are about to accelerate our learning as we shift into this new gear. We are in partial lockdown over in Amsterdam. . .probably this will change seeing where other countries are at. At the moment schools are closed, restaurants  sex clubs, coffee shops closed. Supermarkets open. Some stores too. Some working from home, for others just normal working days in office....
