August Pigments . . .

16 August in Journal

TIP OF THE MONTH August! What a great month to be out in nature, (at least in the Northern Hemisphere). As I am outside in nature a lot this month, I get to reconnect to nature and the pigments that nature offers! Did you know that natural drawing and painting materials can easily be made with all plants, fruit, berries and vegetables? Look around you outdoors, see what is growing, look at the fruit in your fridge, the red wine and even charcoal used for the BBQ. All these items can be used for painting. All the colors that we see in these edible items have a natural pigment. In order to use it for our art, we simply need to add a binder (fancy word for glue). We can easily add glue directly into the mixture, or continue with natural materials, such as using egg yolk, which also is a great...

June Light Rays . . .

01 June in Journal

TIP OF THE MONTH Aaaaaah the light is beautiful this month, especially in the studio! The skylights allow the light shine right overhead, so that we can witness even the individual rays of light. June, brings with it the longest day of the year. It is approaching rapidly on the 21st, at least in the northern hemisphere. Magic is all i can describe it as. Late afternoon picnics are one of my favourite ways to enjoy these long days. . .I love the refreshing green grass, picnic blankets, a smorgasbord of snacks and drinks, chats with my dear friends and family, playing games and witnessing time. These are the fond memories that I think about throughout the winter as well. Mind you, I do love the beach, splashing of water as well. So there has been much news about Privacy Policies, and so yes, our privacy is located on my site. Team Training...

May Transitions . . .

01 May in Journal

TIP OF THE MONTH The month of May feels to me like the ultimate transition between Spring and Summer. The trees have been growing their lush green leaves. . .mmmm. . .they are well on their way to fulfilling their potential.  Lots transitioning over here in the studio too, from the last two evenings of the Tuesday Monthly Intuitive Painting Club and the Painting Week Retreat in June. (more details below) What's more is that I have gotten fascinated with teams and the development of them. Actually I have been working with teams for years now, but recently learned about the systems that teams become. The fact that all relationships for that matter are systems. . .whether we are speaking of 2 people or 50 or 500. . .This awareness intrigues me. Needless to say, there will be development coming in this area. Call it Team Training, Team Coaching, Team Development  and such....

April Flowering Buds

04 April in Journal

TIP OF THE MONTH April is here, all variations of buds are flowering. The buds on the trees are metamorphosing into leaves, and the flower buds are. . .well. . .flowering! The frigid wave month last month delayed some of the flowering. . .but are now again in full motion of budding out! Spring is that special time for me where we get to witness transformational metamorphosis. So much happening inside those cone shaped buds. They may look dormant, however, lots of pure magic is happening inside. And ahem, I'm not just a talking about these buds. . .am I? Noooo, the bud is after all the perfect metaphor for what is budding inside each of us. We also bloom seeds of insight and ideas that have been brewing inside. This season, I personally get the feeling that there is more time. More time to let ideas bloom! Perhaps it helps that...

March Carvings

06 March in Journal

TIP OF THE MONTH This week has been a joy witnessing the shift from Winter to Spring overnight! On Friday I got to skate out on the canals and Sunday it's all been melting. . . This certainly feels like the final winter hurray, get the shivers out of the system and make clearance to Spring! . . .and as an extra bonus, we have longer days of light!  So my video this month is inspired by skating (right outside of the studio) and the metaphors that go hand in hand. Carving through the ice can be mimicked by drawing with charcoal or crayons. As a matter of fact, it reminds me of a typical charcoal drawing exercise. Drawing large lines with both hands on the sheet of paper. The exercise is the tip of the month. As a reminder, when you are in Amsterdam, join in on the monthly workshops. These are...

February Smorgasbord

07 February in Journal

TIP OF THE MONTH In Amsterdam, February has a track record of being a pretty cold month and this year is no exception. Of course, the weather here is still super mild when we go comparing . . . which is all the more reason to spend quality time indoors with your art supplies. . . .alone. . .or with company. As a matter of fact, go ahead and do a pre-spring cleaning of those wax crayons, pastel ends, bottom of paint tubes and squeeze/ scrape it out onto your painting. The journey is the destination, so go ahead and even use your painting as if it's a pallet. Enjoy the smorgasbord like painting that has just gotten permission to be and have a feast! I created this little video, which may serve a bit of inspiration into the world of. . .just do it. . .create! Spring is just around the...

January Reboot

01 January in Journal

TIP OF THE MONTH www. January is a great time to reboot! Having said that, rebooting of course varies from person to person. For one it may be on a physical level. Here we can think about caring for our body, exercise, eating well, sleeping well. . .etcetera. . . For the next it may symbolise our emotional body. I always remember hearing the analogy for this body as energy in motion. Our memories are stored in this layer of ourselves, we make stories here too, so it's a nice time to reboot and be aware of the stories that we are telling ourselves. . .and to transform them into the stories that serve us best. For yet another it may be on a mental level. Are there any courses and workshops that we want to attend? Hint, if creativity is on your list. . .the monthly painting workshop starts on January 23rd from...
